Why Camping Can Be A Great Family Vacation

Camping is a type of vacation we often don’t think about, especially when we have big family trips to plan and go away on. In the modern-day and age, we think of camping as something to do in the backyard when the kids are bored during the summer. We think of it as something only serious adults do; they collect around a campfire they made themselves, they pitch up tents that’ll only take them a couple of minutes to put together, and they’d never think of bringing kids out to the wilderness with them!

But in truth, camping can be an amazing family vacation activity. If you find a campsite that’s near enough to you that the drive isn’t too far, and the kids won’t start complaining in the back, you’ve got the chance to show them a whole new world of fun things to do in the outdoors. So, without further ado, let’s delve into this a little more. Camping could be the next family vacation you plan when you get the chance to, and for a variety of good reasons!

There’s Plenty of Space for You All

Camping is done in the great outdoors, and because of that, you can be sure you’ll have a lot of space to work with. So, whether you’re bringing the whole crew and have more than 5 people to take care of, or you’re a small family of 3, there’s going to be plenty of room on the campsite to spread out and have fun.

And that’s one of the main things you need when planning a family trip. You need space for the kids to go and spread out, and you need space for yourselves as adults trying to enjoy a vacation as well. As long as you pack the right tent, you certainly won’t be short of enough room for everyone to enjoy their time in.

You can even get a tent with separate ‘rooms’ that you can zip up and have some privacy away from each other, and it’s certainly far less expensive than trying to book multiple rooms in a hotel.

And it’s not just a large tent you can pack, to ensure there’s enough space for all the family. For example, you could take a look at a terrific camping gazebo or two, for adding a little extension onto your tent and giving you a space to sit and enjoy a BBQ when the sun is out and the mosquitos are too!

It’s a Great Learning Experience

Kids have very spongy brains, and that means they learn a lot from everyday life, and much more than adults typically do! They don’t have much in the way of life experience at the moment, and that means they’re keen to learn and want to absorb as much as possible from the people and environment around them. And for that reason alone, it’s a good idea to take your family away on a camping vacation.

Camping can teach your kids a lot about the great outdoors. It can teach them about the weather, and how the world reacts to it. It can teach them how to find their way through the woods if you’re camping nearby forest or within a national park. It can most definitely teach them the signs to look out in terms of wild animals nearby, and whether or not it’s safe to proceed on the path they’re going. All in all, there’s a lot to learn when camping out in the wild, even when you’re on a domestic campsite that sees tons of visitors all at the same time.

You can even set some tasks for your kids to do while they’re camping. If you want them to come away from the vacation with a bit more knowledge upstairs, you can set up treasure or scavenger hunts in the surrounding area. You can tell them to find you certain leaves or types of plants, and offer prizes in return. Going off on a hunt like this is a great way to keep them entertained away from screens and civilization, and it can be a great bonding experience too.

Spending Time in Nature is Great for Everyone

We all know that being outside is good for us, and yet, a lot of us are homebodies, and live quite stationary lives. The only time the kids may find their way outside is when they go to and from school, especially if you live in a remote area where there’s not much to do out and about.

However, if you take your kids on a camping trip, they’ll have plenty of time to soak up the great outdoors, as well as get used to being out in it. They’ll see how much fun it can be, and how much they can run around and make noise without anyone telling them off – it’s good for adults to find an empty field and scream into the air when times get tough, so imagine how your kids will feel!

Similarly, they’ll soak up plenty of sun, and that’ll definitely help in the formation of healthy muscles, skin, and bones. Your kids are young and have a lot of growing to do, and getting outside to benefit from the weather around us is part of ensuring they grow up big and strong.

And as a family, having an outside game or two of your preferred sport is a great way to bond. You can spread out, hit balls as far as you can, and have a lot of fun in a wholesome way, that doesn’t take a TV screen or an internet connection to make possible!

Camping is Quite Easy to Arrange

Another benefit of taking your family off on a camping vacation is the fact that it’s quite easy to arrange. You can do it last minute, and the entire trip could be planned out in full in under an hour. Now think about how long it usually takes you to arrange a family vacation, and how much comparing flight prices and times to each other can take out of you, and think about just how much easier it will be to go camping as a family instead!

All you need is a tent that’s big enough for all of you, and if you don’t already have one, it won’t be hard to pick one up. Sure, you’re going to need to collect some camping supplies together, but a quick trip to the nearest supermarket will fill up your inventory as much as you need. Not to mention just how easy it is to pack for a camping trip; you can take as many suitcases or bags as you like, and you won’t have to pay for bringing oversized or extra luggage along with you.

It’s Always a Fun Adventure!

And finally, camping can be a really fun adventure, and it won’t be hard to make this so. Pitch up your tent in the wild, teach your kids all about the trees and flowers and animals around them, and they’ll have a whale of a time using their imagination about the world around them. They’ll come up with stories about fairies and elves in the woods, and magical plants and cute animals they could find and tame in the grass.

All in all, a kid’s imagination really is their best friend when they’re young, and taking them on a camping trip really helps to bring out its power. Make sure to foster this by providing the camping environments your kids deserve.

Not to mention just how much of an adventure you’ll be on as well. There could be all kinds of famous or interesting sights around the campsite and going to see them all as a family could make for some great day trips. Who knows when you’ll find the next best place to tuck into a picnic or catch a great family photo? Because you’re the one out camping, the way your vacation goes is all up to you!

Ready to Arrange a Camping Vacation for all the Family?

When you next get the chance to, be sure to think about putting a camping trip together for your whole family. It’s a great way to bring you and your little ones together, and it can be a great way to get back to nature! How long has it been since you took a long walk and really enjoyed the world around you? Way too long!

And be sure to introduce your kids to this concept too. Teach them how important it is to take time out in nature, and teach them some survival skills that’ll always come in handy as they grow up and become their own person. Camping vacations really are great for all the family, and it’s about time you took your family on one.
