Mystic Summer Camps are Happening!!

With health and safety as the priority, Mystic Aquarium will offer onsite summer camp adventures for children entering grades 1-6 with protocols in accordance with the State of Connecticut guidance. With weekly sessions beginning June 29, Mystic Aquarium’s camps offer outdoor exploration, up-close animal encounters and other fun and educational experiences.

“We are so thrilled to be able to offer our unique and memorable camp experiences for children this summer,” said Kelly Matis, Vice President of Education and Conservation. “Maybe now more than ever, we want children to have the opportunity to connect with nature in meaningful and engaging ways.”

Summer day programs will be available weekly for children entering grades 1 – 6 and will be sure to peak and hold the interest of young explorers, animal and nature lovers and budding marine biologists. “There are also family programs,” added Matis.

Featuring camps like Aquarium Fun, Junior Aquarium Careers, Animal Antics and Endangered Species, these immersive experiences spark curiosity in campers by providing hands-on habitats and ecosystem exploration and eye-to-eye engagement with a wide variety of animals. Mystic Aquarium offers the perfect environment to enjoy and explore animals while having outdoor adventures in nature.

In accordance with the State of Connecticut requirements for youth camps, Mystic Aquarium has established stringent guidelines to ensure camper and educator safety for this summer.

“Each camp will have a maximum of 10 campers with an assigned instructor and dedicated classroom within the Milne Ocean Science and Conservation Center, which is separated from the general public,” added Matis. “The camps will be completely independent of one another to maximize safety.”

Other protocols will include social distancing, guidelines for face coverings, increased vigilance with cleaning and disinfecting procedures, and more. A complete overview of safety protocols can be found at Mystic Aquarium.org. You can check out the video they made on their safety below as well!
