Mother’s Day is coming and what mom doesn’t love being pampered! I know waking up and making breakfast are the last things on my mind on Mother’s Day. To help make the special someone a delicious (and super easy) breakfast, I came up with this delicious recipe for Strawberries and Cream french toast! Bonus, we used Little Northern Bakehouse bread to make our breakfast Gluten Free!

French Toast is one of the easiest and most versatile breakfast items. It can easily be turned into a desert with the addition of chocolate (which I do often!). If you have a basic recipe you can change it up any way you’d like (which is great for some picky eaters in my house). This recipe is also great for little helpers in the kitchen that want to bring mom breakfast in bed! We went with the classic strawberries and cream combo for this recipe because it’s my favorite and the gluten-free bread from Little Northern Bakehouse held up perfectly to the custard!

Gluten Free Strawberries and Cream French Toast

Delicious and easy french toast recipe can be adjusted to include any fruit combo you choose!
Servings: 4

Ingredients

  • 8 pieces Little Northern Bakehouse Bread We used Sprouted Honey Oat
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup low fat milk
  • Strawberries any other berries would work great here too!
  • whip cream

Instructions

  • Beat the eggs, milk, and vanilla in a shallow bowl (you will need something you are able to soak the bread in)
  • Soak the bread in your custard mixture. I let them sit in the mixture for a couple of minutes so they don't end up dry in the middle.
  • In a skillet or pan melt butter to cover the bottom (you are basically going for a delicious nonstick surface of your pan).
  • Let the soaked bread brown for a few minutes on each side.
  • Serve with sliced strawberries and whip cream!

Gluten free breads take some getting used to because of how dense they are, so recipes that use them toasted or coated in some way are a great introduction.

I’m such a big fan of french toast but never have it often because I don’t always get it right. Will have to try this recipe, thanks.
