Philly Cheesesteak “Muffins” Recipe

Yes you heard right. Philly Cheesesteak “muffins”. These little glorious morsels are all the name promises and without the guild of a cheesesteak. I tried them for the first time tonight and WOW. I was full after two (ya and I can eat so pretty amazing). My husband ate four and my love bug devoured the last two.

Disclaimer lol. I’m Italian and I was never taught to cook using measurements (hence my battle with baking) so these measurements are more “guesstaments”. I tried really hard to note what I was using in case I wanted to recreate these little beauties.

Philly Cheesesteak “Muffins”

* 1 lb lean ground turkey (I used the 97% lean)
* 1/3 of a block of reduced fat cream cheese
* 1/3 cup of Caramelized Onion Dip Starter (more or less to taste)
* Wonton wrappers (found in produce section)
* Monterey Jack cheese shredded
* 2 tsp garlic powder
* salt and pepper
Yield about 12 “muffins”

Preheat oven to 375. Brown the ground turkey meat over medium heat with the garlic powder, salt and pepper. When meat is browned add Caramelized Onions to the meat until warm. When that has been combined add your cream cheese. Stir until melted and mixed.

When your meat mixture is ready set aside. Spray muffin tins with non-stick spray (I used two 6 count muffin pans). Take your wonton wrappers and press them into the muffin tins. Scoop one heaping tablespoon of the meat mixture into each wonton cup. Sprinkle with a pinch of the shredded cheese. Repeat the steps one additional time.

Place the muffins in the oven for 13-15 minutes or until browned. Let the muffins sit for at least a minute before you slide them out or they will fall apart. I served mine with a side salad. I can’t even explain the yumminess. They were super easy to make and perfect for a weeknight meal!

    This might be a great Weight Watcher recipe! We also count fiber, do you know if the wontons have any fiber and are they a wheat product?

    1. Kira

      Yes the wonton wrappers are a wheat product but they only have one gram of fiber 🙂

    I have never had this in muffin form before but it sounds and looks good. Will have to see if my wife would make these.
