Our Big E Foodie Adventure

When September rolls around in New England many people are thinking back to school but I’m always ready for Big E season! Living in New England most of my life, going to the Big E is a tradition. I’ve gone for as long as I can remember, even flying back from college to go! When my children were born I couldn’t wait to start the tradition with them.

The number one thing that is synonymous with the Big E is food. The Big E is known for delicious and outragious food. Every year they add new over the top options for the adventurous eater along with the classics. We were so excited to take part in the Big E Foodie Adventure this year!

We took several trips to the Big E this year (like I said we are huge fans!) to taste as much of this year as we could! I’m happy to say we thoroughly enjoyed our adventure. When you’re taking your own foodie adventure, make a plan of attack before you go. Know what you want to try and bring help! Sharing is caring and it allows you to try more things. Most of the food at the Big E is HUGE and there is more than enough to share!

If you’re visiting the Big E on a chilly night make sure you stop by The Soup Shack! This booth is on the Avenue of States across from the state buildings. Their chowders are creamy and perfect for filling you up on a cold day. You can even upgrade to a bread bowl! We tried the Cheeseburger Chowder and it was a hit. It literally tastes like a creamy cheeseburger in a bowl. They also have Clam Chowder and Chili available. Grab yourself an apple cider slushie in the Vermont building to was it down and you are good to go!

After many rides with the kids at the Midway, we took a grownup break at the V-One tent (the kiddos got an extra trip down the Giant Slide with their grandparents). The specialty martinis are perfect for an adult drink during your food adventure. Try their frozen martini or any of their specialty fall flavors. This tent is right near the slide and Better Living building.

If you are a cheese fan you need to stop by the Hot Wisconsin Cheese booth. These specialize in deep-fried cheese goodness. From fried cheddar cheese to fried rye covered swiss cheese on a stick, this is the place to go for unique fried cheese. Stop by this booth near the Midway and try them for yourself!!

If you are looking to satisfy your sweet tooth then you need to head over to the New England Center and visit the Big E Bakery for their famous Cream Puffs and Eclairs. This year they took it up a notch with chocolate-covered cream puffs. These giant cream puffs are fluffy and delicious. The chocolate adds just that little bit of something extra. Shockingly, I made it my entire life without trying one of these amazing treats. I have regrets!! This will be a new tradition in this family and I can’t wait to get them again next year.

If you went to the Big E and tried something different every day of its 17 day season you still wouldn’t taste everything it has to offer. We had so much fun on our adventure and can’t wait to go again next year. To see more of our foodie adventure search #BigEFairFoodie on social media and check out ours and many other photos of our time at the Big E! There are still five days left check out the Big E and try some of the amazing food, visit the State Buildings, watch the shows, see the farm animals and so much more!!

As many trips as I have taken to the Big E, I have never had a cream puff. Next year I will try one for certain especially topped with chocolate. Looks delicious.

We love the cheese curds with marinara or ranch. This year starla loved the baked potato with broccoli, sour cream and cheese!
