National Care Bears #ShareYourCare Day!

share your care

Today is National Care Bears #ShareYourCare Day! The Care Bears are spreading the message to share your care every day through small and large acts. What is #ShareYourCare? Sharing you care can be something small like making someone smile or something large like planting a tree or donating time to charity. No matter how big or small, it’s the act of caring that makes all the difference.

I’ve continually talked about doing things for others and teaching children to think of others. One of my first posts after I started this blog was about Random Acts of Kindness. You never know the difference one little act of caring can make in someone’s day. When I was pregnant for Lovebug we got terrible news that there may be major complications. There was nothing I could do but wait for test results. I was a mess. I was crying and picturing all the ways my life was going to change. I decided to stop through the drive through for a coffee and a muffin to collect myself before heading back to work. The person in front of me paid for my drink that day (a random day in January) and it made such an impact at that moment. Someone who didn’t know anything about me (but may have seen my hot mess self in their rear view), did something small and it impacted my day. I’ll never forget that feeling of knowing that someone I never met did something to make my day better. It stayed with me and I wanted other people to feel that way.

This past summer I wanted to give back. My kiddos are happy and healthy and don’t need anything. I knew there were plenty of kiddos that aren’t that lucky. I wanted to help kids in need go back to school with the supplies they might not otherwise have. I partnered with the local Boys & Girls Club to start a school supplies drive. Through the generosity of so many donors, I was able to give forty lunch boxes stuffed with school supplies to local kids in need. Doing something for someone you’ll never meet without expecting anything in return is an amazing feeling and a fantastic way to #ShareYourCare.

It sounds like an interesting twitter party for those who like to do charitable things and help others, and who doesn’t?
