Macy Kate, who started her time in the spotlight on the TV show Rising Star, sings the them song for the new Swan Princess: Royally Undercover movie. She has toured with major names and worked with artists like Meghan Trainor and Flo Rida while keeping her fans hooked with her amazing covers of popular songs on her YouTube and FB pages. I recently got a chance to talk to Macy Kate about her life, career and work on the new kids movie.

MMT: You entered the spotlight at a really young age. Was it difficult to balance being a teenager with a music career? Do you feel like you missed out on anything by becoming famous so early?
MK: It was definitely hard seeing all of my friends go to prom, homecoming or any other school type of event. but this lifestyle is what I wanted and what I am passionate about and I couldn’t see myself doing anything different so it didn’t really bother me that much.

You have a chance to work with some amazing stars in the past couple years. Who was your favorite to work with? Who is someone you’ve always wanted to work with?
My favorite was probably my mentor Flo Rida. He is an amazing individual who is so dedicated to his craft and making it better every day which inspires me to do the same. He such a humble person and I aspire to be like him as I grow.

I love your positive message to young girls in your music and social media presence. I have a daughter and making sure she grows up with a strong self-esteem is very important to me as a parent. What is something you would want young people to take away from your music?
Just being yourself in general is what I strive to get across on all my social media platforms in my music. It’s so important that girl specifically know that they are beautiful and that they can do anything they want to do anyone says if anyone tries to get in their way. Just to keep going and do what you love.

We are very excited to view the new Swan Princess: Royally Undercover this week. The theme song is fantastic and I love the message in “Born to Be Me”. Are you a fan of this series and it’s positive message for girls? We are excited to see the group go undercover and use spy gadgets! When you were young did you want to solve crime or be a spy?
I’ve been watching Swan Princess since I was a little girl and it’s crazy to even think that I’m on the soundtrack for something that I watched growing up. It’s really a dream come true and i’m beyond for this movie.

What advice would you give to kids who dream of becoming a music star?
Always be yourself and never give up on your dream. Don’t let anyone get in the way of what you want to do. I have. even turned down, knocked down, and said no to so many times. That doesn’t stop me from reaching my end goal. So always be you and never stop at what you want to do.

What’s next for Macy Kate?
Definitely to release a record this year. Get on tour. Create a fashion line, i have a huge passion for fashion and i want to create some really cool things.
