Introducing Kids To Their Competitive Side

Children are so often taught to believe in themselves in school so they can pass whatever tests they go through. They are taught to be more outgoing with the opposite sex and play with other kids so they can socialize and make friends. However, parents need to show their children they have a more competitive side also. Competition is great for kids as they learn how to push themselves harder when they think they cannot do something. It’s a great way to train their mind to push on through fatigue and also realize that they are stronger than they think. Thankfully there are plenty of ways you can show your children how to tap into this part of their mind and body.

It begins with homework

If you have more than one child, you can offer to give rewards to the child that has a great homework score. Homework is so often left until the last minute because new flash, children don’t find homework to be fun. You can emphasize on focusing on homework more by giving your children rewards for the most correct markings from the teacher and or finishing first. If you do the latter, check the answers to the questions yourself so you can make sure they’re not skipping questions just for the prize. This could be a weekly thing so add up the tally of who won the most during the 5 days of school and then give the winner a prize or treat.

To be strong

There are a bunch of sports that schools do not teach which can be learned outside of school hours. Sports like MMA are rapidly becoming the most popular for all ages. It’s something that allows the kids to be truly competitive and test themselves to get better and better. However, the teachers will also instill within them a sense of respect, self-discipline, and self-belief. They learn character qualities as well as how to use different techniques to defend themselves from others. It shows them to be strong when they’re feeling hurt. These are skills they can use later on in life too, so start them off early.

Something they love

Talk to your children and find out the things they love to do. It might be painting, or writing, perhaps building things with their toys. Give them tasks to do and pit them with challenges that they all have to complete. It could be that they have to come up with a story using certain characters, include different things in the plot, or perhaps draw an animal, etc. Pick the ones that you think most accurately stick to the descriptions you set out and also have the other kids choose each other’s to see which one is the most popular. It stirs their mind and helps them to use their imagination to create some cool ideas while trying to make the most sense to champion their rivals.

Competition is extremely healthy for children. It gives them something to aim for and also look within themselves to improve and better themselves. This allows them to be prepared for challenges they will face later on in life.
