How To Plan A Romantic Picnic For Two

If you want to plan a romantic date, a picnic just for the two of you can be an ideal choice. Although it’s a relatively simple thing to do, if you want to make it really romantic and memorable, you’ll still need to do some planning to get it right. Here are some great ideas to get you started.

The Right Location

The location of your picnic really can make a big difference to how it all goes. You want somewhere that isn’t too crowded so that you can sit and talk for hours if you want to without finding yourself surrounded by people and noise, dogs running around, and people playing ball games. If you can choose somewhere that offers a nice amount of shade on a hot, sunny day, that’s a good idea too because you can stay longer, even if the day is a really hot one. If your picnic basket is heavy, you’ll also want somewhere that you can drive to and park close by.

Prepare In Advance

It’s no good deciding you’re going on a picnic and then realizing you don’t have any of the equipment you’re going to need to make it a good one. That’s why preparing in advance and getting everything ready is a good idea. You’ll need, for example, a large blanket to sit on and a basket to put all your food and drink in. Do you want to keep things chilled? Then you’ll want to think about taking a cooler. What about cutlery – does the food you’re thinking of packing need some so that it can be eaten? The same goes for plates and bowls. Depending on the weather and the time of year, umbrellas may be required.

Choose Great Food

You need to be wise about what food you want to take on your picnic – not everything is going to be suitable. Sandwiches can be messy, for example, but you can switch them out for stuffed pitas which are much easier to handle. Salads are great because they are light yet filling, and there are so many different kinds to choose from that you are sure to find one that suits both you and your date. You can look at an apple salad recipe so you can include lots of different – and delicious – ingredients and jazz things up a bit, for example.

Bring Entertainment

Once you’ve finished eating, you won’t want your date to end right away, and while you might spend the next couple of hours chatting and enjoying one another’s company, there is always the chance (especially if you have only just started dating) that there might be some awkward silences, and that can make a date fall flat. If you’ve run out of things to say, but you have some games or some music to enjoy, you’ll soon get up and running again. Some portable speakers, a board game, a pack of cards, even a ball to throw around can all help out.
