When you’re a parent your lives revolve around the mini versions of yourself. It’s an amazing job and I love being a mom. With the craziness in our lives we need to find time to connect with our partners. I am guilty of not taking enough time to connect and it’s something I really want to change. Date nights are so important and so is getting time away (I know …easier said then done). When you finally get time away choosing a great getaway spot can be tough. Luckily for us in the New England area, we have a great destination right in our own backyard.

Foxwoods Resort Casino is perfect for a date night or mini getaway without the travel time. We took a little trip for a much needed overnight right after Valentine’s Day. My mother-in-law was out for a visit so it was perfect timing (built in babysitting!). Located in southern Connecticut, Foxwoods is a short drive from most New England locations. We checked in and headed up to our room. I love the rooms at Foxwoods. They have all the modern amenities and comfort you could ask for in a luxury resort. We love staying on a higher floor for it’s amazing views. Perfect any time of the year. I have to say that the bathrooms are beyond amazing. The tub is enormous and the expansive vanity area is perfect for getting ready for a night out. For a busy, working mom an amazing bathtub is a getaway in itself!

If you’re looking for something delicious then look no further. The amazing choices you’ll find at Foxwoods are perfect for any taste. We are a couple that loves to eat and try new things so we enjoyed the choices. After we checked in we headed over to Guy Fieri’s Kitchen + Bar. We’ve heard great things and we were starving and ready for an appitizer and drink. We’ve seen the “Trash Can Nachos” on Food Network and had to try them. Coming from someone who spent years living in Arizona and knows nachos, these were pretty amazing. They come out in a can that the server lifts off revealing layers and layers of cheesy goodness. These are meant for sharing!! Service was great and we fully intend on trying this again on our next visit!

If if you aren’t into gambling (we don’t do very much) there are still so many things you can do while visiting Foxwoods. Their pools and spas are a perfect way to relax. We took advantage of “Adult Swim” after all, we were kid free! There are other great chances for entertainment while you’re visiting! We caught a show at the Fox Theater. We got to see the Ultra Sonic Rock Orchestra and it was a blast. Foxwoods has some amazing names in entertainment coming up this year. Before our show we got to try the Cedars Steakhouse and Oyster Bar for dinner. Cedars is Foxwoods signature steakhouse and serves up a wide variety of choices with large portions and even larger taste! My husband loves steak and rarely gets it (thanks to my food allergies) so this was a meal he was really excited about. Don’t worry, even if you aren’t a beef eater there were plenty of options to choose from. He started off with the Beef Carpaccio, something he had always wanted to try. It did not disappoint. I tried their authentic Onion soup. Cheesy deliciousness! Our meals included a NY Strip steak for him and pork chops for myself. The portions were huge and we had a ton of leftovers! The service was fantastic even with a huge Saturday night crowd. Make sure to make reservations in advance to avoid a wait!

After our show we headed over to the to Live@The Atrium for some drinks and more live music! It’s the perfect place to hear live music while having a drink and wrapping up your date night.
