I’ve written before about finding tiny ways to “Be The Good” in a world that hasn’t been the happiest of places lately. It’s so important for me to feel like I’m trying to make a difference. No act of kindness is ever too small because it makes the difference for that one person. You never know the impact your actions can have on someone.
I am a preschool teacher and children are my world. I was very excited to be able to participate in the wonderful campaign with Wonderful Pistachios. The provided a backpack and thirty dollars to fill the backpack with supplies for a child in need. I wanted to double the donation so I provided an additional backpack and started doing some school shopping research. You can really stretch your dollar if you shop around. Many site have all the back to school specials listed or other great money saving advice. Some of my favorites are Coupon Savvy Sarah, Super Frugal Stephanie, and Coupon Friendly.
When I was asked to participate in the project I immediately knew where I could make a difference. I knew that I would need two bags and double the school supplies. I found the school supply list online and made a plan. With some thrifty shopping I was able to get an incredible amount of school supplies on a budget. I managed to get everything required by the schools and a couple goodies. There were plenty of Wonderful Pistachios to pack in the bags as well. The handy tube packs will be great to take as snacks and they fit right in the outside pockets of the backpacks! They are fun to eat and so much better for you than potato chips.
The boys I chose to donate the bags to are a couple of amazing boys. They haven’t had the easiest lives and they are amazing young men. Their single dad is doing the best he can to make ends meet but times are tough, as many of us know. These boys have maintained amazing grades despite situations that would make grown adults quit and give up. I wanted to help make back to school a little easier on this amazing family and have something positive happen for these boys. I have never witnessed the appreciation that these boys showed for their school supplies. These are school supplies…not video games or anything kids would usually ask for. They were genuinely thankful for every little thing I put in these bags. These two are something special and I’m glad I could do something small to help them out.
I may have been able to give a couple of children school supplies but what I received from this campaign is priceless. I was able to make a small difference in someone’s life and the feeling of doing something for someone else is indescribable. Thank you Wonderful Pistachios for sponsoring this campaign and helping me make a difference!

The best way to teach kids compassion is to include them in charity work like this! I really love the idea of helping other kids out especially since I believe that every kids deserve a bright future! This is awesome and I admire you for doing such an amazing thing. At time like this, we really need to spread some kindness.
I think this is such a great idea. I love giving back when I can. I usually donate food to food shelves. You always feel great after doing it too!
It is easy to forget that back to school time is not always filled with joy. For some kids being able to afford supplies is a real struggle. Glad to see there are programs around to help those in need.
I love this! Look at the smile on their faces. I feel like each year the costs of school supplies keep going up and its hard for many families.
What an incredible way to help people in need. All of those supplies will be super helpful! This is a great campaign.
Oh, this is so nice. Our family gave some school supplies in honor of the death of my aunt, it is great to help.
It is so nice to do charity. When we do it, we make sure our son watches so he’ll follow by example.
This really makes the difference. My son loves helping others because I teach him to.
I love to help others, especially those who need it most. It really makes you feel good and you are really appreciated by that person or persons, which makes you feel even better.
What an amazing thing to do! Teaching kids at a young age that it feels great to give to others that may need it is so important for when they get older.
