BATHROOM

What to pay special attention to

When it comes to bathrooms, it’s hard to tell what needs organizing. There is so much going on in that room, you brushing your teeth or taking a shower, talking to your spouse, organizing laundry, applying makeup, blow-drying your hair, and even relaxing. If you want to keep your bathroom organized, you need to go through your medicine cabinet, check under the sink and scrutinize the towel bin, as most of the clutter hides there.

Organizing tips:

Keep a laundry hamper in the bathroom so you can organize your dirty clothes much more easily. No more excuses for dropping clothes on the floor.

 Keep bath items like shampoo, soap and bath foam near the tub so they are within easy reach.

 Buy or make a sectioned storage container for all your brushes, hair dryers, curling irons, combs, etc. Mixed together, they can easily get tangled. But if you place them separately, they will look much better. If you can’t find sectioned storage, just use small boxes within your cabinet/drawer.

KITCHEN

Take inventory

Start by writing down all the products your kitchen holds on sticky notes. Take the time to scrutinize well the notes. Decide whether there are items that serve no purpose or things that were tossed in inconvenient places. Consider whether you need to improve organization. If you can’t find all the corresponding lids of your pots, you definitely need to reorganize the kitchen space. Clean drawers and cabinets Your kitchen may look tidy and well-organized at first sight, but if your drawers and cabinets are cramped, it will slow you down while cooking. Take everything out of the drawers and cabinets and give them a good clean. Now might be a perfect time to give some items a new home or to dispose of unnecessary ones.

Organizing tips:

 Keep pots and other cooking tools you use the most near the stove.

 Keep all items you don’t use frequently behind cabinet doors to make your kitchen look spacious, clean and neat.

 Use kitchen organizers for anything that comes to mind, from spoons and knives to spatulas, pans, herbs, cheese grater, etc etc etc.

 Store glasses and plates near the dishwasher.

 Use wall and door storage to provide more space for your kitchen stuff.

 Don’t forget to clean and declutter your pantry. It may take a few days to sort through the stuff, but the sooner you do it, the better.

LIVING ROOM

Get rid of VHS tapes, cassettes, DVDs, CDs

Let’s face it, we live in the digital era and nobody uses cassettes and VHS tapes anymore. Unless your old buddies have sentimental value to you, there is no point of sticking to them. If you are used to getting your video and music online, you don’t need your old CDs either, so get rid of them, too. Nowadays, we have embraced new forms of technology and it goes without saying that your piles of videos, jukeboxes and cassettes serve no purpose other than to collect dust in your living room. They are a real pain when it comes to cleaning, so don’t hesitate to dispose of them as soon as you can.

Organize your shelves

Group like items together and display only a few things to make your living room more presentable. Reorganize your books. Either put them in alphabetical order or sort them by favorite writers. Keep knickknacks in one place. And that’s how you can organize and declutter your home, room by room. We hope you have a great time tidying up. Just do a little work every day and you’ll be fine.
