Writing Dark Stories Book Review

I love writing. Obviously I do a lot of writing for Mommy Makes Time, however I love to write fiction as well. Creative writing was an elective every year in college. I love writing thrillers and horror stories. It is my favorite genre to read and I’ve always dabbled in this genre when I write.

“Writing Dark Stories” by Rayne Hall is a great instructional book for anyone who likes to write in this genre. I love the great advice given in this book. My favorite line was “Cowards make the best horror writers, because we know what fear feels like and we never run out of ideas.” (Rayne Hall, Writing Dark Stories). I like the idea of writing what you know. I choose to write paranormal horror because I think that aspect of the horror genre scares me the most.

My nephew is also very into writing “scary stories”. He’s only nine so I’m going to hold off on letting him read this for now. I have given him a few pointers from this book though. I’ve read other stories from Rayne Hall and they are fantastic. Having read those stories I’ll willingly take the advice!

If you’re interested in learning how to write your own dark stories, this book is available on amazon.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
