If you’re in the New England area and you’re looking for some family fun this summer I highly suggest checking out Six Flags New England. Located in western Massachusetts, this theme park is a great way to spend the day. We recently check out their first Food and Brew Festival all while enjoying a day at the park.
Guests were able to sample and try dozens of food items and beer pairing from local and national breweries. There was something for everyone. If beer isn’t your drink of choice they even had mixed drinks and fun other beverages available. Specialty Food Items that were available included:
- Mac n’ cheese BLT sandwich
- Doughnut burger
- Chicken and Waffles on a stick
- Lobster rolls (husband loved this!)
- Chicken salad sandwich
- Kabobs – beef, chicken, or vegetable
- Grilled bratwurst (This was amazing)
- Husk steamed corn on the cob
- Fiesta nachos
- Grilled flatbread pizza – cheese, pepperoni, margarita
- Pretzel Necklace
- Over 50 beers
We really enjoyed the different food we tried. The kids even tried things I never thought they would (key is putting food on a stick I guess!). We sampled food throughout the day while we took advantage of all the park had to offer. We have two smaller children. Monster is six and Lovebug is four so they really dictate the amount of time we can realistically spend in any given place. Six Flags was perfect for them and children of all ages. I was worried there wouldn’t be enough for Lovebug to do and she would be bored. I was so wrong.
There are two separate areas focused on the younger guests. Looney Toon Movie Town was full of different rides both kids loved with some classic characters. We rode a mini roller coaster, swings and even went for a speedy ride with Taz. Lovebug was obsessed with Wile E. Coyote’s Speed Trap. She must have rode it five or six times. My little daredevil.
There are lots of rides for bigger kids and of course adults. Monster just hit 48 inches so he was able to ride more of the “grown-up” rides and he loved it. We spent all day running around and riding the rides. They have a brand new Joker ride for those of you looking to #ThrillItUp! Check out the POV video below:
If rides aren’t really your thing there are still plenty of ways to have fun at Six Flags. From games to character shows you’ll find more than just rides to entertain you during your visit. My kids loved meeting Bugs Bunny and of course Scooby and Scrappy Doo (all time favorites of Monster). If you’re looking to stay cool check out Hurricane Harbor water rides. 
Our Tips for Your Trip
- Check the weather. It looked like it was going to be a rainy day when we went but we took a chance anyway. The park was less crowded with the overcast skies and we had a blast (no rain either).
- Go EARLY! I can’t stress this enough. Go early for the best parking options and least wait times. You can park before the actual park opens too.
- If you think you are going to love Six Flags (you will) consider buying a season pass. They are always running specials and you will totally get the most for your money. Plus their are special events and discounts for season pass holders!
- You can check all the ride height requirements on their website before you go. This saved us from a very disappointed Lovebug. We knew exactly what she could ride so she wouldn’t have her heart set on something that was a no go!
Overall, we had so much fun during our visit we grabbed season passes for the family and plan on making it a regular outing. Follow Six Flags New England on social media for all the upcoming news and events happening at the park throughout the season!
