Reinvention: It’s Your Time

There are moments in life you want to make a change. Whether you’re hating your career and you want to change what you’re doing, or you want to relocate and live somewhere new, you deserve to do whatever it is you want in life to succeed. Whichever path gets you to success, you can reinvent yourself at literally any moment. It’s a wonder more people don’t do it; but we’re brought up to believe that you learn for one career and one outcome only, and it’s just not the case.

As an adult, you are perfectly within your right to change your mind about your life whenever you want to, and no one can stop you! You can choose Teach for America jobs and become a teacher. You can research the best medical schools and go and be a doctor. Whatever it is you want to do, your time to reinvent yourself is now. So, here are ways you can cope with that reinvention so it can be as successful as possible.

  1. While you reinvent yourself, feel all the feelings and embrace them. Whether you are in retirement and want to make a change in life or you’re climbing the ladder of success and hop off to start again elsewhere, you are going to feel a range of emotions. From guilt to happiness to sadness at all the changes, feel whatever it is you need to feel. Face your feelings and dispense with the guilt: there should be no guilt involved in life changing decisions that you make for yourself.
  2. Seizing every single opportunity will change your life and make you feel wonderful about yourself. You get the chance to feel passionate about something for a change and you can experiment. You will make mistakes and you will sometimes wish you hadn’t started again – but you won’t regret trying.
  3. You get the chance to challenge yourself as you go through this new journey of reinvention. Every daydream you have is going to put you through teething troubles, but once you get to that finish line, you can embrace those fears and realize that you challenged yourself in the best way. Whatever way it happens, it will feel amazing to you.
  4. Reinvention is about more than changing your outlook, but about healing your past. Perhaps you spent years wishing you could do something different and never had the courage to go for it. No matter what, your interests can lie dormant for years on end before they finally pop up.
  5. You can prove to yourself time and again that you can stick to something and win at it. You can prove that you are the old dog and you can learn as many new tricks as is necessary to win at something that you’ve always wanted to achieve. Reinvention is all about showing yourself how you can do more and be more than you ever thought that you would be. Why not start today? Don’t wait any longer.
