When I was young my grandmother used to get us Christmas ornaments every year. We would have a special package to open after Thanksgiving dinner. Each of us would get ornaments my grandmother picked out or ones my grandfather had made. I still have almost all these ornaments on my tree. I never realized how much this meant to me until the year my grandfather passed away. That Thanksgiving there was no special package on our napkins and an empty chair at the table.
