We live in New England and it’s been a brutal winter. With record setting snowfall and subzero temperatures, we spent very little time outside this year. The snow is finally melting and there are small glimpses of Spring popping up. I can’t wait for the snow to be gone and the temps to be above freezing. The kids are getting stir crazy and I can’t wait to get them outside everyday!
The National Park Trust is just as excited to get outside as we are. They are sponsoring Kids to the Park Day on May 16th! It’s so important for kids to get outside and stay active. Active kids are healthy kids and we love healthy kids. With all the technology out there today, kids can miss out on valuable experiences in nature. National Parks Trust is asking parents, teachers and caregivers to bring kids to the park on May 16th. You can register to take your kids to the park and in return you’ll be entered to win a Nikon COOLPIX L830 camera! After you register all you have to do is take your child to a local or national park on May 16. If you’re looking for an organized event in your area you can check out Park Trust for more information.
I remember spending my entire summers outside as a child. I’d love to let my kids have a little of that experience in their childhood. I’m going to pledge to get my kids to the park on May 16th. I’m looking forward to making fabulous new memories with my kids and reconnecting with nature. I can’t wait to watch them make discoveries outside. We’re going to check out Kids Parks for ideas on how to start our nature adventure.
MORE ABOUT NATIONAL PARK TRUST
National Park Trust is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving parks today and creating park stewards for tomorrow. As people spend more time indoors and as successive generations grow up with less of a connection to nature, NPT wants to build a greater awareness and appreciation for the importance of our country’s public lands and parks.
