The 6th annual National Park Trust Kids to Parks Day will take place Saturday, May 21, at local and national parks all around the U.S. Anyone can participate in Kids to Parks Day, which is fast becoming a national day of play. Parents, teachers, caregivers and friends are encouraged to pledge to bring a child to a park on May 21. Many parks host organized events, or you can create your own park adventure.

We love celebrating Kids To Parks day and sharing the benefits of getting your children outside in nature. We spend a lot of time outside as a family and I love letting my children explore the natural world. Playing at the park is so important for them. They get to socialize with other children and make new friends. They also get to stay active through playing and that is really important in our increasingly sedentary society.

We are very lucky to live right near several amazing parks. There is a small park with a playground a block away that we love walking to after school and on the weekends. We also have a larger park to explore a few minutes away. Our friend Buddy Bison loves to come to the park with us and take advantage of all the outdoor fun!

Our family plans on spending the day at Forest Park. It’s one of my favorite local parks because it was the park I grew up playing at. They have so many amazing activities for the kids from the Zoo and duck ponds to numerous playgrounds. It’s going to be a great day to spend outside with our family.

Head over to National Park Trust and pledge to bring your kids to a park for Kids to Parks Day! Not only will you be entered to win awesome prizes, you’ll be participating in something amazing with your family!
