Preschool and Kindergarten Learning App
I have two young children that love this App. It’s easy for them to use with or without assistance (at least my almost 4year old). The directions are very clear to follow and my son gets to practice tracing his letters and drawing his own. They also give an example of a word that starts with the letter. My son loves this feature because he’s trying to sound words out and read.
I also teach preschool and I love letting the kids use this app. We are really careful about what apps we allow the children to use. They get plenty of technology in their lives so if we’re giving it to them it has to be educational. I love the practice they get with this app. Even the younger kids are getting a chance to practice their letters and get praise for their attempts. They’re playing and learning at the same time. Win win. check it out on iTunes.
ABC’s and Phonics App
Phonics is really important when you’re teaching kids to read and write. Sometimes it’s harder to teach these skills. I love this app because it again makes it fun for kids to learn. It uses mazes to get kids to rhyme. My son loved trying to find the words that rhymed. You have to drag a bone through the maze to get to the word and a dog follows the bone to make the word pair. It’s really adorable. The only trouble we had was when we had called words by the wrong name (for example my son saw a picture of a dog and it was supposed to be a pup).
The game also gives kids a chance to practice with letters again and play with mazes. The mazes are easy enough for preschoolers to get through without too much difficulty. It boosts their confidence and helps them get ready for the next level where the have to find word pairs. It’s a great game and I like that it follows the Montessori approach to learning. BINGO ABC’s
Music and learning are great partners. My kids love music. Not only does it help them memorize, it helps them with timing and math. This app uses the traditional Bingo song to teach kids letters. It’s really cute and catchy (it will be stuck in my head for a while). The song sounds out the word bingo. The letters are displayed as you sing along. This is a great visual for kids as they are singing. As each scenes go along and a letter is dropped for the song the little characters move throughout the farm. The letters are still up so the kids can still visualize even if they aren’t saying each letter.
My four year old is running around spelling BINGO so I’d say the catchy memorization song works. I think it’s a great and simple way to mix music with learning and get gets excited. They’re singing and dancing while we get to sneak in some learning!Check I you.
