With a new year comes new goals and new possibilities. One possibility? To make this year your healthiest and happiest year yet! Here are a few healthy habits that everyone needs to take on this year:
Find healthy swaps for soda + drink an extra glass of water each day
If you didn’t already know it by now, soda is detrimental to your health. If you still drink it, try to find healthier swaps. Olipop is a great one that is relatively new, but so tasty. The best one is their root beer. It is expensive, but it really packs in the punch with tons of vitamins, herbs, and other ingredients that can help contribute to great gut health. When it comes to water intake? Up your game and drink at least one more glass each day. It’s nothing new that there are health benefits to drinking more water. It helps keep your temperature normal, lubricates and cushions joints, protects your spinal cord and other sensitive tissues and gets rid of wastes through urination, sweat and bowel movements. Since 50 to 75% of your weight is water, drinking some plain old H2O is imperative in keeping your body working the best it can and staying hydrated. If plain water isn’t your favorite, you can add flavor (like lemon, cucumber, etc.) to your water to help up your intake.
Find other swaps for unhealthy items
While you’re at it, swap out other unhealthy food items, too! Work to eliminate foods and snacks that you buy regularly that are high in calories but low on their health benefit. Eat them less often as an occasional treat. Try using full-fat dairy, whole grains, healthy oils like avocado and olive oil and natural sweeteners like fruit instead of low fat (low fat might have other additives) or sugary alternatives.
Don’t do everything yourself
It’s time to let go of the control and get help, when you need it. Swamped with work? Hire an assistant. Can’t find time in your day to clean because the kids are taking up a lot of time? Hire a babysitter or cleaning company. Need help with a practical solution in your life, such as moving? Then hire movers like Fresh Start – The Moving Crew! Don’t just let loose when it comes to the physical moving aspect, though. Fresh Start – The Moving crew also offers packing services too. They offer services like packing & moving in Worcester MA + labor only, furniture moving, commercial moving services, and residential moving services. Worried about trusting them? Check out their reviews – they are amazing!! Plus, every process of your move is important to them, as their business as movers is grown by your referrals and high recommendations. They start in MA, CT, NH, ME, VT, RI, and travel to wherever you need.
The owner, James Cooper, says: “We always strive to put the customer first. That’s how we went from using a borrowed truck and trailer to serving over 1,000 customers in our first 3 years of being in business. Although starting a new business in central Massachusetts is difficult, we have provided exceptional service as movers and packers to a rapidly growing customer base as well as receiving a high percentage of repeat business. This is the motivation we need to continue to serve our customers and offer the smoothest moving service in the area. We’re dedicated to being the best moving company around. Thank you to all the patrons of Fresh Start – The Moving Crew. We look forward to being your professional movers!”
Start your day with a healthy breakfast
If you start the day out right, you tend to eat better overall and it helps lower your risk of diabetes and improves heart health. Not only that, but eating breakfast helps reduce brain fog, so you’ll be ready to go for those morning meetings. Eat something high in fiber that includes protein to keep you full and energized. Tired of the same bowl of oatmeal? Add different toppings to make it more exciting. Omelets don’t have to be boring, either. Throw your favorite salsa, cheese and eggs into a whole grain wrap for a quick and easy breakfast burrito. The options are truly endless.
Stick to your new year’s goal(s)
Do you know of a single person that sticks to their new year’s goals? I don’t! But I think that it is time to change that. Whether you’re looking to lose weight, get in better shape, stay in better touch with family and friends, quit smoking or drinking, or have another goal in mind, there are simple strategies you can adopt to stick with your plan. I suggest owning up to what needs to be changed, write out your goals and corresponding action plan in weekly parts, start with a journal entry of “why,” create incentives, and tell others!
