We all need “me time”. Moms need to find ways to decompress and take a break…even when we can’t leave the house. It’s so important to take a step back sometimes and focus on yourself, even if only for a little while. I’m working on easy steps to turn my bathroom into a room where I can decompress and enjoy a few moments of stress-free time.
Simply Upgrades
I’m not saying demolish your whole bathroom and start over. That’s not in the cards for everyone and can add stress to your life instead of taking it away. If you aren’t in love with your current bathroom start by doing simple upgrades a little at a time. You will be surprised how much something like changing out the shower curtains, repainting or upgrading a fixture can do to change the whole look and feel of the bathroom.
Sometimes our bathrooms are past the point of simple upgrades and you need to consider bigger changes. If you are in the market for totally upgrading your bathroom, a Kohler luxstone shower is a gorgeous way to bring the spa feel into your home.
Bring the Outside In
There is something calming about plants and flowers. They brighten up any space and aren’t always thought of as great bathroom decor. I know I never thought to add plants to my bathroom before I started changing it around. However, a small plant can go a long way to bring a more zen-like feel to your bathroom. Just make sure you pick plants that thrive in your bathroom to avoid any indoor gardening setbacks.
Aromatherapy
When I’m creating a stress-free place in my home I love to include aromatherapy. The stress reducing benefits of aromatherapy are wonderful and anything natural that can ease stress is always a win in my book.
You can get aromatherapy in the bathroom in a variety of different ways. Bath bombs and bath salts are always one of my favorites. You’re already relaxing in a bath so you might as well add some relaxing scents while you’re at it. Make sure you check out the ingredients of the products you’re looking at first. Try and go natural if possible to avoid irritants (that defeats the point of relaxing)!
Candles are another great way to get the benefits of aromatherapy into your bathroom. There is something perfectly relaxing about enjoying a room lit by candles. Make sure also to choose scents you love to fill your “oasis”. Lavender is our favorite relaxing scent.
Creating a space you can retreat to and relax doesn’t have to be hard. Simple changes can do amazing things for your space. Whatever you decide to do, make sure you’re still finding a space you can escape to regularly. Life is challenging and often stressful. It’s so important to find ways to let yourself relax. Creating this space will give you the ability to enjoy a relaxing environment more because you don’t have to leave the comfort of your own home!
