We had a chance to dine with California Pizza Kitchen while on our family getaway to Foxwoods Resort Casino. This family friendly restaurant serves California inspired dishes and unique takes on the classics. We sat down to enjoy a little bit of everything CPK had to offer and they did not disappoint.
We had an amazing server who took the time to focus on the kids on a busy Friday night. Their children’s menu is award winning and it’s easy to see why. There are amazingly healthy options for kids on their menu and meals I was thrilled to give them. They taste amazing too! We sat down and grabbed a couple drinks while we decided on our appetizers. I highly recommend the red sangria!
We started off with the Baja Chicken Spring Rolls and the Spinach and Artichoke dip. My kids are experts when it comes to Spinach and Artichoke dip and they were very impressed. The dip was served with an ample amount of blue and white corn chips and had the perfect amount of cheese. The Baja Chicken Spring Rolls were impressive. Crispy on the outside with just the right amount of heat. The rolls are served with house made guacamole for dipping.
The kids also tried the Crispy Mac N’ Cheese. These creamy balls of mac n’ cheese are breaded in panko and fried. This results in a crispy outside and creamy, gooey inside. A definite kids favorite. Entrees for the younger diners included the cheese pizza and grilled chicken and broccoli. The pizza was a perfect size and cheesy perfection. I was impressed with the kids chicken and broccoli. The chicken was perfectly cooked and the broccoli still had a great crunch to it (a must for my broccoli loving mini).
The grown up entrees came out next. I chose the Aspargus and Arugula salad with the Brussels and Bacon Flatbread. Scott got the Carne Asada Pizza. I can not say enough good things about my salad and flatbread. I love arugula and this salad was perfect. The dressing was light and the toasted almond added the perfect amount of crunch. I would eat that every single day and am on a mission to recreate it at home. I love Brussels sprouts so this flatbread was something I had to try. It was crispy and the bacon was perfectly cooked. It was a great size to go with a salad. The Carne Asada Pizza features marinated steak on a cilantro pesto sauce with poblanos and jack cheese.
We were in a hurry to catch a show but that doesn’t mean the kids were going to skip dessert. They enjoyed a brownie sundae that was chocolaty and amazing. I “helped” them finish up their desserts and they outdid themselves with that brownie. It was gooey, warm and even had that little bit of crunch on the edges.
As any parent that takes children out to eat, you never know the experience you are going to have. This was a great restaurant experience. From the food to the service we will defiantly visit this CPK location again and recommend it to anyone visiting Foxwoods Resort Casino!
