I love to cook but meal planning is not one of my favorite things. We end up having the same old thing week after week because it’s easier than stepping out of my comfort zone and trying something new. Blue Apron takes the guess work out of trying a new meal!
Blue Apron sent us a box with two meals (each feeds four people). It comes nicely wrapped with ice packs and a cooler bag so I felt confident knowing I wouldn’t be home right when they delivered. Everything you need to create these meals is included. Spices, meats, produce even butter and dairy. The only thing I added on my own was a little bit of olive oil.
According to their website the boxes contain “Specialty ingredients that are fresher than the supermarket. Ingredients are perfectly pre-measured so there’s no waste and meats are naturally raised on antibiotic- and hormone-free diets”. The ingredients did arrive looking fresh and ready to go. The spices are in little containers so there is no danger of adding too much to a dish.
I love the easy to follow directions. You really can’t go wrong if you follow each step. The methods used in cooking our first dish were things I hadn’t tried before so I was totally out of my element. I was extremely worried that I was going to do it wrong but I followed the paper and it came out amazing! The chicken was perfectly cooked and my husband LOVED the glaze and the mushrooms.
Blue Apron got me to try new ingredients that normally never make it to my week night meal. I tried bok choy and collard greens for the first time and really enjoyed them. Having a couple of my weeknight meals planned out is a huge help during the week. I spend less at the grocery store too because I have two meals prepped and ready to make!

We have tried Blue Apron before and loved it (wish the portions were a tiny bit bigger) but the meals are amazing and easy to prepare!!
This seems like a saviour. My wife, Claire, keeps nagging me about what will I eat. Probably I should gift one of these to her for a change. 😉
My boyfriend and I are Blue Apron subscribers! Their meals are so yummy. However, I do have to modify some of them for myself to fit my clean eating preferences 🙂
This really would be a great Mother’s Day gift. I tried a different meal service kind of like this one once and it was so much fun cooking because everything was pre-measured, all I had to do was do some chopping and then cook it up!
It was serendipity I came across this post! I have been wanting to try Blue April for awhile now (good idea on Mother’s Day Gift – I can ask for it for Stepmother’s Day – Sunday following Mother’s Day).:)
