I love cooking and coming up with new and fun recipes (even though as a full time working mom, it isn’t always in the cards). I’m also HUGE on local ingredients and companies. When I heard about the new Extra Thick Double and Single Cream from The Brooklyn Creamery Company I was intrigued.
What is Double and Single Cream?
Good question and one I had asked myself. It is an all new and natural fresh dairy cream similar to British Style ‘’Double Cream”. The cream is treated using a unique process that gives it a rich and creamy texture. Because it is so much richer and creamier, it has more uses for cooking than a traditional liquid heavy cream. This dairy cream has the thickness similar to sour cream without the sour taste. It’s just pure cream! Imagine everything you could do with it…I have so many ideas!!
What is the difference between Single and Double Cream?
It’s all about the fat content! Double Cream has a 42% milk fat content and Single Cream has 21% milk fat (which is half the fat of our Double Cream). Both creams are NOT ULTRA PASTURIZED like typical heavy creams. This keeps the creams thicker and keeps in more nutrients…resulting in a healthier and creamier product.
Uses for Double and Single Cream
You could spread Double Cream onto toast, waffles, bagels and scones like a whipped cream. I huge on using yogurt or sour cream to thicken dips and sauces so I can’t wait to try the Double Cream instead! I’m thinking my famous Buffalo Dip may get a delicious upgrade.
Single Cream can be used to make a homemade coffee creamer (just add vanilla extract or your favorite). This is something I can so get behind. Flavored coffee creamers are full of preservatives and this would be an awesome replacement.

I have never had either single or double cream. I bet that double cream is really good spread on toast or a bagel.

This is the first I have heard of Single Cream or Double cream. Double cream would be great for dips. Let us know how it turns out when you try it out in your Dips.. I love Brooklyn and I love ice cream! Two wonderful things! But I’ve never had this brand of icecream! And the info about single and double cream was interesting!

I love love LOVE this product – have used it in a few recipes and it’s worked out well.
I absolutely love that this product is gluten free. It is so versatile, and it is a great alternative for someone that has gluten intolerance, like myself.
