Great Mom Tips for Their Children’s Health

The wish of every mother out there is to see her little ones healthy. And while the mothering skills come naturally to most, keeping your little ones healthy is not as easy as it sounds due to the many demands that come with motherhood. To make things a tad easier, we prepared a list of tips that will help cut down and if possible, eliminate the number of sick days that your child takes.

Take care of yourself first

A healthy mom makes a healthy family. If you are unhealthy, you cannot follow any of the tips below, which means your kid(s) will have no one to take care of them. Keep in mind that being a healthy mom means being okay both physically and mentally. Therefore, eat right, get enough sleep and leave your kids with a baby sitter or send them for sleepovers so you can have some alone time and to rest occasionally. Ensure you also pamper yourself by having spa day at least once a week, go out with your girls every once in a while and also don’t forget about your marriage!

Encourage play and exercise

The 21st century has totally changed the meaning of childhood. We are in an era where kids prefer spending the entire day glued to the TV or playing video games rather than playing outside. As a result, cases of childhood obesity and cardiovascular-related illnesses are on the rise due to the lack of engaging in physical activities. As a mother on a mission to safeguard the health of your kids, you should ensure that you encourage them to go outside and play. Limit screen time to three hours a day. To make this a rule and to avoid conflicts with your child, set the alarm to inform him/her that screen time is over. If possible, join in every once in a while and ask them to join you during your evening runs. This will not only keep all of you fit but will also help in bonding. Physical activity helps boost both the physical and mental health of your children.

Offer healthy meals and snacks

What your child eats plays a significant role in his/her health. Therefore, ensure you settle for healthy foods and snacks as they not only offer them the energy to play but also keeps their immune in shape. Also, encourage drinking water. However, don’t ban junk foods. Making junk food illegal increases your child’s cravings for unhealthy foods. The result of this is that they will try to sneak them into your home or eat whatever type of junk food comes their way when you are not around. Nevertheless, this does not mean junk snacks should be an everyday thing, limit their intake to weekends and special holidays and ensure you monitor the amount as well as the type of junk foods that they eat during these cheat days.

Give them more fresh fruits and vegetable juices

The nutritional value of fruits and vegetables has never been up for debate. They are even more beneficial to your child’s health as they pack nutrients that help boost your kid’s immunity and growth. Also, keep in mind that children are always on the move, and while this is good, it also means that they need the energy to do so. Fresh fruits and vegetables are a great way to boost your child’s vitality as they pack plenty of natural sugars.

But what can you do when your kid is a picky eater, who can never look at greens or finish a piece of mango you give them? Juice them! No child can resist a glass of delicious looking mango, passion, or orange juice. Furthermore, such juices offer your child an instant burst of energy as they are quickly absorbed and processed.

However, you need to ensure that you only give your child homemade fruits and vegetable juices that you have made yourself, because only then, can you be sure that they contain no harmful additives. If you are a mommy to be or you already are, go to Veranda Interiors listed some juicers which are a must have in your kitchen! As for vegetable juices, even adults find them hard to take. To make it easy for your kids to consume mix them with other delicious juices to make them more bearable.
