I’m extremely nostalgic and I love sharing experiences from my childhood with my children. When I was little I had terrible vision problems and spent every saturday for a very long time at the Boston Children’s Hospital for therapy. My father wanted to make this trips as fun as possible so we would frequent the Boston Children’s Museum. I have such wonderful memories of this place and I wanted to share them with my children
When we were invited to visit the Boston’s Children’s Museum I was literally ecstatic. I knew that Monster and Lovebug were going to love it just as much as I did when I was young. We went on a Saturday and I was ready for crowds. However, we timed it perfectly and it really wasn’t busy when we arrived. After we checked in, we decided to eat before we got busy exploring. There is an adorable lunch room right behind the admission desk where you can eat your own food from home or a cafe attached where you can buy sandwiches, salads and other lunch items. It is pricey, so if you’re looking to save money on your visit just pack your own lunch.
We had a blast on the second floor. It was our favorite and where we spent most of our time. “Peeps World” is a room full of water play activities. Monster spent so much time in there exploring. Lovebug spent some time in there before she dumped water her head and we left to continue exploring.
MY TIPS FOR YOUR VISIT
- If you can live without a stroller don’t bring one. There is stroller parking on the first floor but we did fine leaving ours in the car.
- Try the Atlantic Wharf parking garage (right past the museum on the same side). It’s only 12$ all day on the weekends… That’s amazing for parking.
- Pack your own lunch and snacks to save money.
- Don’t dress up! While they provide smocks, it’s a learning experience and kids can get messy.
- If you go on a weekend aim to get there when they first open to avoid crowds

What a wonderful place. I’ve always thought that museums would be much more interesting for kids if they could actually BE kids when they were inside. Kids don’t want to stare at things. They want to get in there and fiddle.
Yes on the stroller I wish I had known when my daughter was little not to bring hers when we visited the children museum for the first time here in Atlanta. It was madness. I love that pictures and so glad that museums like these are around
this museum sounds amazing! I can’t believe how much stuff they have for kids to do. I bet you could spend a whole day there and still come back for a second or third trip without the kids getting bored with the activities. I really like places offering different activities for the kids.
Great photos. It looks like a really fun place to spend a Saturday with children. It’s nice that you can bring your own food in if you like. It sounds like you and your husband did good teamwork on the second floor which sounds like it would have been a favorite part of the museum for any child. I’ve never been to Boston but would love to visit. I know there is rich history there!

I hope I can go to Boston and visit it some day! My kids would love that three story climber. That is so cool! And of course, all kids like the water areas. How funny that your daughter dumped water on her head! I love how it has activities for kids of all ages. As I have 5 kids ages 4 to almost 13, that is necessary!
At first read, I thought to myself, oh I’ve never been there (we live in RI). But as I continued to read, the memories came back to me. My kids loved that museum when they were younger! Thanks for the trip down memory lane 🙂

Children’s museums are something new to me-truthfully I get really impatient taking my kids through them. But I’m trying to slow down and let them enjoy like kids can. This one looks really fun and you’ve got great tips about coming early and leaving the stroller behind.
This looks like such a cool place to visit and how cool that it’s a children’s museum. It’s so important for little ones to be shown the world around them and be able to interact with the exhibits too. I wish we had children’s museums here in my part of Ireland.
