When it comes to your family, you want to do all you can to help them stay in the best of shape. Yet this can be easier said than done, especially when it comes to the members of your household who happen to be male. As a mom, it’s much easier to know what your daughter needs to stay healthy, as the chances are it’s something you have had to deal with yourself. But the differences between genders can mean that when it comes to your sons or even your male partner, you find yourself without the knowledge you need to help them. There are plenty of ways you can encourage male-specific healthiness as well as the health of your family in general.

Firstly, it’s important to encourage the men in your family to take care of themselves and their bodies just as much as women. Regular yoga has been shown to help your heart strength, flexibility, strength, lung capacity, stress levels, and even increase your lifespan. It genuinely is the best exercise for improving your holistic health. Yet so few men actually practice yoga on a regular basis. If you can introduce the practice to your partner and children, and show them it can be for them as well, you’ll be setting them up for a healthy, centered, and long life.

Circumcision

Now onto a practice that is unique to men, and that you might not have any experience with. Circumcision is something many men undergo, and if your partner or other male people in your household haven’t already had the operation, it’s vital to help them seek it right away. Though male people will tend to have higher required calorie intakes each day than women, this varies by person depending on weight, height, and metabolism. Ensure your children are eating enough to help them grow, through a balanced diet, and keep everyone in your family active and thriving. If your partner needs to go on a diet for any reason, it can really help to join them in solidarity, showing your support through action.

Once again, therapy is often seen as a tool for women – but many men struggle deeply with their mental health, and they can equally benefit from this service. Encouraging the men in your life to see no embarrassment in having therapy, but to use it as a way to make their lives more effective, is a fantastic way to help them stay healthy in their minds as well as their bodies.
