The Villains Of Stargirl

If you watch the CW, you’ve most likely seen promos for the new hit show, Stargirl. Executive produced by Geoff Johns, Stargirl is a teen superhero drama based in the DC universe. While there are many heroes to get invested in, there are also many villains. Let’s go over who they are so that you are familiar with them when watching the show.

Brainwave

Brainwave is introduced in the second episode. Played by Christopher James Baker, Brainwave is one of the more formidable foes Courtney will face this season. Brainwave was first introduced into the DC universe in DC’s 1943 All-Star-Comics #15 in “The Man Who Created Images.”

Brainwave was one of the founding members of the Injustice Society (the bad guys). The Injustice Society were the sworn enemies of the Justice Society of America (the good guys). Some of Brainwave’s enemies include Wonder Woman, Doctor Mid-Nite and Johnny Thunder.

Brainwave had a son named Henry King Jr, who would one day inherit his psychic powers.

Icicle

Another of Stargirl’s biggest enemies is Icicle. Played by Neil Jackson, Icicle also shows up in the second episode of the season. He is the leader of the Injustice Society and is a threat to Courtney and her superhero friends.

Icicle first appeared in the DC universe in the 1947 All-Star Comics #90. In the comic, he is portrayed as a European scientist who essentially creates and uses a freeze ray to capture and freeze his foes. Late in the comics, he passed on his powers to his son, Cameron Mahkent.

The Gambler

Eric Goins plays The Gambler in Stargirl and is introduced at the end of the second episode. He is also a member of the Injustice Society. The Gambler first appeared in the DC universe in Green Lantern Volume 1, #12 in 1944.

While The Gambler certainly likes to hedge his bets and would love to live full time in a casino, his main skills are disguise and knife throwing. Some of the Gambler’s enemies include Green Lantern, Atom and The Flash.

Sportsmaster

In the very first episode of the season, Pat meets Crusher, a sportscaster. Crusher first appeared in the DC universe in 1947 in All-American Comics #85. He is also a member of the Injustice Society and has fought against famous heroes such as Robin and Batgirl.

Sportsmaster loves sports, which gives him the motivation to be one of the best athletes on the show. He is very skilled with hand-to-hand combat and also can use soccer balls, bats, and other sporting equipment as weapons. In the comics, he is married to Tigress.

Tigress

Joy Osmanski plays Tigress in Stargirl. Tigress is first introduced as Huntress in Sensation Comics #68 in 1947. Tigress uses wild cats to help her with criminal activity and is also a very skilled fighter. In the comics, she is married to Sportsmaster and has fought heroes such as Black Canary, Wildcat and Starman.

The Wizard

The Wizard is played by Joe Knezevich and is one of the original six founders of the Injustice Society. Introduced in 1947 to the DC Comics universe, this villain is a master of illusion. He can put his enemies into a trance in order to control them. These skills make him a very dangerous threat to Stargirl and her friends.

As you can see, there are plenty of villains in DC’s Stargirl to keep viewers on the edge of their seats. Make sure to tune into the CW to watch this exciting and compelling new show!
