Be Prepared Before The Interview
The first step is the easiest and this can solve most of your problems. The most simple solution is to be prepared for the interview before you go. This preparation involves some simple research work that you have to do. Do your research about the company and prepare some simple questions and their answers ahead of time, so that when you are sitting in the interview, nothing seems new to you. That way, you could easily answer all the questions that are asked to you on time. This is a professionally-recommended plan for helping you become less nervous!
Don’t Get Confused
During the interview, there comes a time when the recruiter asks some questions to confuse you. The reason they talk to you like this is that they are testing how you respond under pressure. Don’t fall for this trick, and stay confident in your answers. If you feel any anxiety, you may not get the job. This is a method used for everybody that they interview, and not just you. Interview The Interviewer!
If you have prepared properly for the interview, and you know a lot about the company, then you are fit to ask a lot of intelligent questions. Research the company ahead of time to see if there is any recent news you should know about. At the end of your interview, the recruiter may ask if you have any questions for them. This is when you can impress them with the list of questions you have prepared beforehand. Not only will this make you seem intelligent, but it will also show that you’re passionate about the job.
Get There On Time
Visit the location of the interview ahead of time so you know where to go on the day of. The worst thing you can do is arrive late, or not at all. If you don’t think you’re going to make it on time, it’s better to call and reschedule.
Otherwise, make sure you wake up early and give yourself plenty of time to get to the interview early. Many new recruits get lost trying to find their way to the new office, which can cause them to be late. Instead, use all the time you need beforehand to scope the place out.
Take Your Time!
When a question is asked, you do not have to answer immediately. Take your time, and pause for a second to gather the answer in your mind. When you are ready, only then answer the question. This will help you stay away from the stress and answer every question properly. It is better to give a late reply then to give an early reply while fidgeting. You can ask for more time to answer the question and still come off as a professional. Just say, “That’s a great question. Can we circle back to it?” The recruiter will understand and will be more than happy to give you the time you need.
