5 Family Friendly Christmas Party Games

The Christmas season is fast approaching, and what better way to celebrate than fun and games! When you’ve got a wide variety of age groups playing, of course, you’ll need to keep the games kid-friendly (at least until they’ve gone to bed)! For a few fun-filled family games, these five could be just what you’re looking for.

1 . Christmas Pictionary

Pictionary is one of those super easy games to play that gets plenty of laughs (usually due to everyone’s bad drawing skills)! You can write down a few Christmas carols on cards and divide yourself into teams. From here, each team is allocated one minute to draw the Christmas carol song. Take it in turns throughout and choose the team that scores fifteen points first to be the winner!

2. Guess the stocking

This game is particularly great to play with kids; it’s super easy and keeps them entertained. Get a stocking and put one small item inside at a time. Pass the stocking around and see who can guess what the mystery object is. Use items that all have similar shapes to make the game harder. (Show everyone the possible items first, so it’s not an endless guessing game!) Useful items can be candy canes, pencils, toy cars or jingle bells etc.

3. Music Trivia

Music Trivia games are a great go-to for all the family. You’ll need a music buff (or just someone who knows how to use google) to prepare the questions and answers beforehand. If this sounds like too much effort, the virtual assistant Alexa has these kinds of music trivia games on hand. If you prefer, you can always create your own music trivia games by merely playing the start of a song and asking everyone to guess which song they heard. (Be sure to find some music trivia for seniors to help your mum and dad join in!)

4. Christmas Themed Twenty Questions

For this game, one player chooses one Christmas themed object. The other players have to attempt to guess what the object is. Only ‘yes’ or ‘no’ questions are permitted, and you only have twenty as a group to get it right. If you get bored of playing with Christmas objects, try celebrities to spice things up! Your kids will probably already know plenty of celebrities and if not-try Disney characters.

5. Christmas Charades

Christmas themed charades is a great game for the whole family. You can use Christmas objects, movies, or songs (depending on how ambitious you are)! Create teams and have prizes to make the game a little more exciting. Kids are generally really great at this game, so you’ll have plenty of laughs.

When all else and everyone is bored with the games, Christmas music never fails to entertain kids and adults alike. Once the adults have had a few wines, it’s probably time for Christmas karaoke! If the kids get bored with your singing- try Christmas musical chairs (as most kids love this one). When everyone’s all worn out, it’s time to put on a great kids movie to chill down.
